Google Cloud and Solana Announce Integration of GameShift Platform

Google Cloud and the blockchain platform Solana have revealed an exciting partnership that will see the GameShift platform integrated into Google’s cloud services. This collaboration aims to make the development of blockchain games more accessible and to provide more opportunities for developers within the Solana ecosystem.

GameShift, a platform built to simplify the creation of blockchain games, will now be hosted on Google Cloud’s infrastructure. This integration will enable developers to take advantage of Google’s robust cloud resources for deploying and scaling their blockchain projects. The GameShift platform offers an intuitive API that links games to the Solana blockchain, along with tools for building in-game NFT marketplaces and incorporating fiat payments.

Jack Buser, Director of Games at Google Cloud, highlighted that many game studios are keen to explore Web 3.0 technologies but are held back by technical barriers. The integration of GameShift into Google Cloud aims to tackle these challenges and facilitate the transition to blockchain technology.

The partnership between Google and Solana began in 2022 when Google Cloud became a validator on the Solana network and supported the launch of their own nodes. In 2023, the collaboration continued with Solana integrating Google Cloud’s solutions, such as BigQuery storage and BigTable database, into their network to simplify data management and transfer.

Google Cloud’s recent developments also include involvement in the EigenLayer restaking protocol and updates to search results that display cryptocurrency wallet balances. These initiatives underscore Google’s growing interest and contributions to the advancement of blockchain technologies.
