Warning about Cryptocurrency Fraud
British company Pershore Motor Group, specializing in car sales, has issued a warning about cryptocurrency fraud. Scammers have created a fake page on Facebook, posing as the company’s official page, and have started sending messages offering to invest in cryptocurrency. The management of Pershore Motor Group emphasizes that they never send such offers and strongly recommends ignoring any similar messages, as well as reporting them to the company.
The company has also warned that they do not send friend requests and that all official messages can only be received through their business page on Facebook or official website. They have highlighted the importance of staying vigilant and strongly recommend users to contact them directly in case of receiving suspicious messages.
Scammers often use the names of well-known companies or agencies to deceive trusting users. Recently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a warning about fake law firms promising to recover lost crypto assets for fraud victims. The analytical platform CoinMarketCap has also reported an increase in phishing emails aimed at stealing client data.
According to research from the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, the number of cryptocurrency-related frauds using deep fakes has sharply increased since the beginning of 2022. User losses from such scams have already exceeded $79.1 billion.
