Cardano Network Successfully Defends Against DDoS Attack
Cardano network successfully repelled DDoS attack in June 2024, the Cardano Foundation announced. In their official statement, the organization emphasized that despite attempts to disrupt the network’s operation, the blockchain continued to function reliably and stably.
The DDoS attack the network experienced is a common method of cyberattack where malicious actors flood a server or network with unnecessary traffic to disrupt its normal operation. In this case, the attack involved numerous transactions executing a large number of smart contracts, creating a significant load on the network.
The first report of suspicious activity on the network came from the technical director of Fluid Token on June 25 through the social network X (formerly Twitter). According to his data, the attack began on block 10,487,530. The attackers used 0.9 ADA for each transaction to execute 194 smart contracts and fill blocks with transactions, leading to increased network load.
Cardano Foundation assured that the Cardano network was prepared for such incidents and was able to successfully withstand the attack. The blockchain’s ability to handle DDoS attacks underscores its reliability and resilience to external threats.
